Light List Vol. 8

Welcome to Volume 8 of The Light List: a monthly, running list of things making life feel a little lighter lately.

Today’s Light List is a collection of things I’ve been reading, wearing, watching and loving lately – with plenty of early fall coziness mixed in. Let’s get into it!

ReadingA Gentle September Reset for Burrow Season: 30 reset & joy-inducing tasks for all the cozy autumnal vibes by October

I love this idea of using September to prepare your home for the cozy fall and winter months ahead. The author suggests choosing one small home task each day – decluttering the pantry, cleaning out a closet, washing blankets, organizing bookshelves, etc. – and pairing it with something enjoyable and seasonal, like taking a walk, making soup or creating a fall reading list.

I love the mix of productivity and enjoyment. I started doing this last week and can’t wait to see how our house feels by the end of the month!

MovingSculpt Society Strength workouts

After a workout hiatus for most of the summer, it feels so good to say my workout routine is slowly coming back! And a big reason for that is changing up the type of at-home workouts I’ve been doing.

I’ve done Sculpt Society classes for years (I think I started around 2020/2021), and they’re really the only at-home workouts I’ve ever been able to stick with. I’ve always loved their classic sculpt classes and especially loved their pregnancy and postpartum programs.

I knew they offered strength classes using heavier weights, but since I didn’t own any, I’d never tried them. When I was trying to get back into a workout groove, though, I knew I needed something new. So I bought 8- and 12-lb dumbbells, tried a strength class and now I’m obsessed.

I especially love the 15- or 20-minute full-body classes (Bree is my favorite instructor!). They’re challenging, but in a way that feels good – and, most importantly, they’re workouts I actually want to do and will get out of bed for.

Shopping: New fall finds

I always get so excited to do a little shopping when the seasons change! Even though it’s still very hot here, I find myself wanting to refresh my closet and start adding a few things I can wear now and into fall. Here are a few pieces that have caught my eye:

+ I’m loving this top for an easy in-between summer-and-fall look.

+ I can’t wait until it’s chilly enough for a short-sleeve cardigan – this one and this one are both so cute.

+ This removable-scarf trench coat!!! I love it.

+ From J Crew Factory, I’m into all the brown-and-white polka dots – see here & here – and I’m hoping they restock this puff-sleeve top soon!

Using$17.99 Prequel moisturizer

I’m a big fan of the skincare brand Prequel, but my newest favorite is this AM/PM moisturizer. It feels so luxurious without being too heavy, and at under $18, it feels like such a good find. I also love that I can grab it at Target and am very happy I discovered it before the cold, dry winter months!

WatchingThis Homeworthy house tour

I often like to have a Homeworthy episode playing in the background while I’m doing things around the house. I recently discovered this one and it quickly has become my FAVORITE and one I’ve already watched multiple times. I love, love, love this house: the size, all of the character and charm, and especially her message that creating a home you love takes time (such a good reminder for me!).

I also loved hearing her talk about how having kids made her want to decorate and make the holidays feel special – something I relate to so much.

And, a few things in her house I didn’t know I needed until now: a coffee/wet bar in the hallway and a seasonal dish rack.

SavingThe 50 most influential books

Love a good book list! Forbes recently asked 50 creatives, founders and thought leaders to share a book that has had an impact on them, and I loved scrolling through their answers. The list is a mix of novels, memoirs, classics, business books and more – and each person shares a little about why they chose their book. Definitely saving this article for the next time I need something new to read!
