Megan's Monday Motivation

Monday, 8/18/25: Talking about August planning

Happy Monday!

It’s a new week, which means it’s time for your next Monday motivation newsletter.

Read on below for some steps to a happier Monday and some positive thoughts to get your week started.

Three Steps to a Happier Monday

Each newsletter starts with three prompts to inspire gratitude and simple intention setting. Take a moment and jot down answers to these three questions. To give an example, I share my answers below.

Step 1: What are three things I appreciated from the weekend?

Step 2: What is one thing I can be excited about today?

Step 3: What is my intention for this week?

GRATITUDE: From my weekend, I am thankful for the class we went to on Saturday, quiet reading time in the morning and having fun hosting at our house!

TODAY: Today is Matt’s birthday! So, I’m most excited to celebrate him.

INTENTION: My intention this week is to focus on gratitude. Planning to jot down a few small things every morning I’m thankful for.

Okay, your turn! And if you want to share your three steps, I am all ears. 🙂

Meaningful Musings: August Goals & Intentions

Happy Monday!

We’re more than halfway through August, but it’s not too late to still pause and plan the month ahead.

I’m a bit delayed in my intention-setting this month, because August is turning out somewhat differently than I expected. About a week ago, I found out my glucose test results came back indicating gestational diabetes. That news brought a myriad of emotions – from fear to concern to confusion to sadness and sometimes all at the same time.

But with some more information, I’m starting to feel better! While the rest of my pregnancy will undoubtedly look different than I imagined (a lot of new things to track, more thinking about what I’m eating, limited sweets), I’m grateful this is something I can actively manage. As long as it’s something that helps baby boy keep growing strong and healthy, I’m more than happy to do or track anything.

I keep thinking about the framing Matt said to me when we found out: this is an opportunity. An opportunity for both me and baby to be monitored more closely, to be seen by more doctors, and to fuel my body in the best way possible during these final weeks of pregnancy.

So yes, August looks different than I pictured. But I’m thankful for this monthly ritual, which helps me reset and reframe as I think about the weeks ahead.

What I love about August

  • Even though the end of summer always makes me a little sad, this in-between season is quite exciting. There’s so much ahead to look forward to! Fall, the holidays and of course, this year, welcoming a baby! Savoring this moment.

Big things happening in August

  • A lot of hosting happening at our house! We’ve already had my brother and his girlfriend visit, and I hosted a birthday dinner for Matt and his dad this past weekend. We’ll have more friends and family later this month too.
  • Matt’s birthday! (Which is TODAY – happy birthday, Matt!)
  • Birth class at the hospital. We went to it this past Saturday, and it was helpful and informative.
  • I have my baby shower at the end of the month. I can’t wait!

August 2025 Intentions

  • Embrace my new routines. Between meal planning, tracking what I eat and blood sugar, there’s a lot more to juggle (and constantly think about). I’ve made a great spreadsheet that helps me keep track of everything and I’m giving myself grace as I adjust.
  • Enjoy hosting. Hosting can stress me out, but I’ve found the secret is planning ahead and breaking everything into smaller steps (plus asking for help!!!).
  • Bake a birthday cake for Matt. Success! I made this recipeyesterday for Matt and his dad and it turned out great (or so I’m told).
  • Start nesting list. I’m declaring September (and let’s be honest, October too) NESTING. MONTH. I want to brainstorm all the projects I’d love to complete before baby arrives. Nesting feels right up my alley, and I’m excited to dive in.

That’s that! Wishing you a wonderful rest of August. What are you looking forward to this month?

Picture of the Week

That’s all for today! I hope you found something in today’s newsletter that sparked motivation, made you smile or inspired a positive Monday thought. Don’t underestimate the power of starting small… a fulfilling week starts with just one fulfilling day. You’ve got this!

Let’s make it a great Monday!
